When you place it under your head, neck and shoulders, it disperses pressure avoiding any pinch points. Your shoulders and neck experience a deep release that transitions up toward the top of your skull.

Will it hurt? Yes. But only for a little in the beginning.
Each spike responds to tension in your body, so more tension = more sensation. The initial “Ouch!” you feel activates your body’s pain response and tells it to send happiness hormones and pain-relief chemicals to the area you’re targeting. If those spikes aren’t sharp enough – or you’re beyond relaxed already – you won’t feel much.

Ah! The Relief!
Trouble with my neck, brought on by golf etc! Tried pills, which work, but don’t like taking them. Tried a Shakti “rug” under my neck one night after golf. Neck and headache gone! When the trouble reoccurs, I now use my Shakti pillow. Pain, gone. Genius product, genius company, amazing communication, nothing is too much trouble! Ah, the relief!

Stillness
I said this about the mat, too, but the pillow is the perfect accessory, so I’ll say it here too. This helped me find stillness, not being fidgety or tempted to use my phone. Love it

If you’re tall, buy this
I bought this with the mat, and it’s been amazing. As I’m quite tall, it allows for much more contact.
