When you place it under your head, neck and shoulders, it disperses pressure avoiding any pinch points. Your shoulders and neck experience a deep release that transitions up toward the top of your skull.

Will it hurt? Yes. But only for a little in the beginning.
Each spike responds to tension in your body, so more tension = more sensation. The initial “Ouch!” you feel activates your body’s pain response and tells it to send happiness hormones and pain-relief chemicals to the area you’re targeting. If those spikes aren’t sharp enough – or you’re beyond relaxed already – you won’t feel much.

This pillow is considerably larger than the other Shakti pillows I have had, so it is much more versatile. I use it as a head pillow but also on the low back, hamstrings, and calves.

It works well
I like the pillow and it works really well but I think it could use one more row of spike disks at the bottom. There is always one part of my lower neck/upper shoulders that doesn't get any spike stimulation.

A productive rest in my day!
I bought a Shakti for my son at his request a couple of years ago. He loved it, but I wasn’t sold. Then I visited a friend who had a mat and a pillow and after hearing her rave about it, I decided to try it too. Well, it appears that Shakti has three very satisfied customers. I was intimidated at first, but I was hooked after the first two minutes! I’m 77 years old, and I can’t get down and up from the floor easily, so my mat is on my sofa. Once I’m settled in, I listen to podcasts or read. I’ve even fallen asleep! I just feel like I’m being good to myself when it’s mat-time, instead of guilty when it’s nap-time!
