The most popular way to Shakti is in bed, before sleep. Using the Pillow as an extension of your Shakti Mat lets you target your neck and get even more relaxation from your downtime.
When you place it under your head, neck and shoulders, it disperses pressure avoiding any pinch points. Your shoulders and neck experience a deep release that transitions up toward the top of your skull.
Its shape is also perfect for releasing tension in hard-to-reach curves, and you can rest your face against the spikes for a subtle sensation.

Will it hurt? Yes. But only for a little in the beginning.
Each spike responds to tension in your body, so more tension = more sensation. The initial “Ouch!” you feel activates your body’s pain response and tells it to send happiness hormones and pain-relief chemicals to the area you’re targeting. If those spikes aren’t sharp enough – or you’re beyond relaxed already – you won’t feel much.
After a few minutes, the tingling sensation fades into a deep, relaxing warmth. The redness is purely a circulation boost. You might even fall asleep.

Shatki Mat and pillow
At first it was intense but as time has gone on I look forward to my time on the mat. I noticed a can do my back excercises with ease afterwards as I think the enhanced blood flow helps. In general I feel very calm and have actually fallen asleep on the mat a few times!

So much more than a pillow!
First off, I wasn’t surprised that this pillow is such high quality. I already had a Shakti mat, and came back for the pillow after I loved the mat so much. This pillow is dense yet soft, and has a really pleasing weight to it. It provides just the right balance of resistance and comfort if you’re lying on it.
I’ve also used the pillow on a foot rest when I need some relaxation during work, resting my sore leg on it up on the sofa, and behind my lower back when sitting.
I was an acupressure sceptic but the Shakti mat + pillow have become an unmissable part of my daily routine.
