To clean the Premium Mat, Pillow, and Footpad, remove the foam and handwash the cotton cover in lukewarm soapy water, using a soft brush to clean the spikes. Rinse and hang to dry in the shade. Once dry, re-insert the foam, ready for your next Shakti practice. You can also keep the Footpad clean by wiping the coated base with warm soapy water.
Store them out of the sun, as UV rays can cause the color to fade. Keep out of reach of pets and children. Fold the footpad back to its closed position when not in use.
We get it, shopping for spikes to relax on is tricky when you can’t try them first. If the Shakti isn’t right for you, you can return or exchange it for free within 60 days.

A little, but only in the beginning.
Each spike responds to tension in your body, so more tension = more sensation. The initial “Ouch!” you feel activates your body’s pain response and tells it to send happiness hormones and pain-relief chemicals to the area you’re targeting. If those spikes aren’t sharp enough – or you’re beyond relaxed already – you won’t feel much.
After a few minutes, the tingling sensation fades into a deep, relaxing warmth. The redness is purely a circulation boost. You might even fall asleep.

You can expect a balance of initial discomfort and deep release. The intensity can be dialled up or down by adjusting your weight to find what feels right.
Start by placing your feet on the spikes in a seated position, moving to standing when you’re ready for more.

Wow, after being recommended this mat by my healthcare provider I wondered if it would suit me. First time I tried it, I was asleep within what seemed like a few minutes and when the alarm went of at 30minutes, I felt deeply relaxed. And 4 out of 5 times I used it since, the levels of relaxation in my back, which is prone to muscle spasms, has been amazing. Push through the first couple of minutes which can be a little uncomfortable!

Firstly, the quality is exceptional. Secondly, if you are trying for the first time, unless you have thick skin, I would recommend the level 1. The footpad is level 2 and I now able to stand on it for a whole minute - I sit with as much weigh pushed onto my feet as possible for the rest of the time.
The pillow is fantastic wedged under your neck and lying on the pad gives what I can only describe as a feeling akin to being tattooed over the whole area at once. The first time I law down I wondered what I was thinking and wasn't certain I would manage more than a couple of minutes, but I listened to the meditation on the (excellent) app and relaxed into it - kind of. Getting off was a whole other level of discomfort. I imagine a toddler feels the same when being forcible deprived of it's pacifier. Luckily, it the feeling didn't last long. The strange thing was I went to sleep almost immediately (I am generally a very poor sleeper). Successive uses before bed have had the same effect. I now lie on it for 20-30 minutes and read a book (not a whole book) and struggle to stay awake. It does take a minute to completely relax into it but when you learn to embrace the initial sensations it becomes easier. I have only used it on bare skin but the suggestion is that if you are too sensitive to begin you can wear thin garments. At the end of the session I have found that sitting up is easier than rolling off.

It looks beautiful but honestly the pain has not yet subsided. It kills my ass!!! I’m trying to power through and can usually manage uncomfortable things but the bum pain is intense. Yet to feel the benefits.
