FAQS
-
Acupressure mats are the modern interpretation of the Indian bed of nails. They use thousands of sharp spikes to stimulate specific points along your body's meridian system to release inner tension and turn tired, sore and stressed into relaxed, restored and reset.
-
Acupressure spikes are sharp, but not so sharp that they pierce the skin.
They press firmly against your skin to release tension in the same way a masseuse uses their thumb, whereas acupuncture needles penetrate the skin to achieve a similar effect.
The difference with an acupressure mat is that you have a few thousand thumbs as opposed to a hand – or a handful of needles.
Acupuncture also requires a trained practitioner, but you can practice acupressure on your terms. -
The Shakti Acupressure Mat is the most versatile tool we offer, making it the best for lower back and foot tension. You can either stand on it for a reflexology-like experience or lie with the spikes flat against your back.
For a more targeted release, check out the Footpad and Back & Belly Band. Both tools are tailored to relieve, refresh and restore tired soles and achy spines, respectively.
-
Acupressure is personal, so to get all the benefits of an acupressure mat and pillow you need to consider the level of initial discomfort you're willing to experience.
Shakti is only place you'll find 3 levels, because acupressure isn't one-size-fits all, and Shakti spikes are seriously sharp.
Most people start on level 1, but you can take the quiz to find out which is best for you. -
Whether you're tired, sore, stressed – or a combination of all 3 – the right acupressure mat can help you relax, unwind and recover faster than you can on your own.
20 minutes, and a few deep breaths, is all it takes.
